Spain: Zidane forced to defend giving son Luca his Real Madrid debut
Real Madrid head coach Zinedine Zidane spoke about his son Luca's debut with Los Blancos in the Spanish capital on Tuesday, one day ahead of his side's clash against Valencia.
"To me, to the people who know me, they know that Luca is here on merit, nothing more. He is a player of this club, for 16, 17 years, a homegrown, as we can talk about [Dani] Carvajal, we can talk about the debut of many players here and Luca is one of them, nothing more," said Zidane after he was asked why his son played in the last Liga match against Huesca.
Speaking about speculation over his Number One, Zidane said: "At the moment there are three good goalkeepers, we will finish the season with these three goalkeepers."
Luca Zidane came to the fore after Thibault Courtois picked up a knock with the other choice, Keylor Navas, having only trained once since returning from international duty.
Real Madrid will play away against Valencia CF on April 3. They are currently third, in La Liga two points behind city rivals Atletico Madrid.
