
Iraq: Thousands of Shiites commemorate death of Imam Musa al-Kadhim in Baghdad
Thousands of Shiite pilgrims converged on the Iraqi capital of Baghdad on Tuesday to commemorate the death of Imam Musa al-Kadhim.
Worshippers can be seen marching through the streets, reading prayers and slapping their heads and chests as they congregated near the golden-domed Al-Kadhimiya Mosque, which is also the tomb of the Imam.
The traditional commemoration dedicated to Imam Musa al-Kadhim occurs on the seventh day in the month of Rajab in the Islamic calendar.
