Police clashed with participants of a protest called by opposition to Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro near the El Guarataro neighbourhood in western Caracas on Tuesday.

The protests were called by President of the National Assembly and self-proclaimed "Interim President" Juan Guaido, who recently embarked on a trip outside the country to strengthen alliances abroad.

Venezuela has been in the midst of a political crisis since January, when opposition leader Juan Guaido declared himself "Interim-President" in a move that was rapidly recognised by the US, as well as several European and Latin American nations.
