
UK: Police carry out controlled explosion of suspicious package at Glasgow Uni
According to reports, a controlled explosion of a suspicious package found earlier at the University of Glasgow was carried out by police on Wednesday.
Scottish Police shut down part of the University of Glasgow after a suspicious package was uncovered in a mailroom earlier that day.
Many of the university buildings were evacuated and adjacent streets were cordoned off.
Emergency services attended the scene to control the flow of the students and respond to the incident.
University staff were responsible for the patrolling of the area, diverting students in other directions.
The package was detonated in a controlled explosion several hours later.
It comes after a similar incident at the Royal Bank of Scotland's HQ in Edinburgh which later transpired to be a package of promotional goods.
