Russian President Vladimir Putin said that “129 personnel officers and 465 agents of foreign special services were intercepted” last year by the Federal Security Service. He made the statement during his speech at the annual FSB board meeting in Moscow on Wednesday.

“We see that foreign intelligence agencies are trying to increase their activity in the Russian direction,” he said.

“Over the past three years, cases of coordinated cyber-attacks have increased. They consist of several related acts,” he said, adding that last year the FSB recorded around 17,000 attacks and describing them as “well-planned, large-scale operations that can seriously damage the national interests of our country.”

Putin also praised the FSB’s work in reducing the number terror-related crimes from 997 ten years ago to nine last year, while stating that the number of prevented terror-related crimes remains high at around 20 per annum.
