Leader of the right-wing Hungarian Jobbik Parliamentary Group Marton Gyongyosi have a wide-ranging interview in Paris on Wednesday, during which he discussed Brexit, bureaucracy in Brussels, the EU, fake news and immigration.

He was heavily critical of Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban during his interview. Gyongyosi claimed that Orban’s intention “to stop migration on the southern border of Hungary is nothing more than political rhetoric.”

“I’ve been looking at the official statistics in Austria, from the Immigration Office on how many illegal migrants crossed the border between Hungary and Austria. And the number is 15,000 in years 2016 and 2017. This is one year after the fence was built on the southern border of Hungary,” he said.

Talking about fake news, Gyongyosi said that “Hungary is probably the only country where the great source of the fake news is the government and the state itself.”

“Viktor Orban has, basically, eliminated the freedom of speech and media freedom in Hungary. One of our main priorities and objectives is to bring this whole situation to the attention of the European Union,” he concluded.
