Pakistan: Military releases footage of captured Indian pilot
The Pakistan military released footage on Wednesday that appears to show a captured Indian pilot. The video comes after spokesperson for the Pakistan military Major General Asif Ghafoor announced on Twitter that two Indian fighter jets that “crossed into Pakistani territory were shot down.”
According to the Pakistan Air Force one plane came down inside Azad Jammu and Kashmir, while the other over Indian-administered Kashmir.
The footage shows a man, who is widely reported to be Indian Air Force pilot Wing Commander Abhinandan, being questioned by Pakistani officials.
Raveesh Kumar, a spokesperson for the Indian foreign ministry, confirmed that one of their pilots is missing and an investigation is underway. He also claimed that a Pakistani jet was brought down as it took part in an operation "to target military installations on the Indian side."
