Colombia: Authorities demolish Pablo Escobar’s former home in Medellin
Colombian authorities demolished the home of former drug-trafficking kingpin Pablo Escobar, known as the Monaco Building, in Medellin on Friday.
Footage shows authorities making the final preparations and cordoning off the area before the building is demolished and falls into its own footprint.
The 8-story concrete building had become a popular destination for tourists, though the city of Medellin now plans to build a park and memorial to the thousands of victims of violence who were killed in the 80s and 90s as the cartels fought with authorities.
