Police clashed with teachers protesting low wages outside the Education Ministry in Rabat on Wednesday.

Police dispersed the demonstrators with water cannons before they allegedly beating several to the ground. The injured teachers were sent to hospital by ambulance.

Demonstrators attempted to seek salary raises and protested the limited opportunities for career development. Teachers in the country are reported to earn an average of $454 (£347) every month.
