Austria: Rapid Vienna gets ready for clash with Icardi-less Inter Milan
Rapid Vienna held a press conference in Vienna on Wednesday ahead of their final training session before the Europa League round-of-32 match against Inter Milan.
Rapid Vienna head coach Dietmar Kuhbauer commented on their opponents, who just hours before the match stripped their main striker Mauro Icardi of his captaincy and dropped him from the squad that will play in Vienna: "[Mauro] Icardi is of course a topic for the Inter team. I think there is unrest in the Inter team. A coach does not want that, but in the current times of football, things like that cannot be simply swept away."
Icardi was dropped amid controversies surrounding a renewal of his contract.
Club captain Stefan Schwab remarked on the amazing experience the team is having: "To play in a game like this is sensational for us. We have earned this at the group phase, that we are part of this game."
Rapid Vienna-Inter will be played on Thursday at Vienna's Allianz Stadion. The return leg will be played on February 21.
