UK: Tributes pile up for Emiliano Sala after body identified
Tributes to Emiliano Sala were seen placed outside Cardiff City Stadium on Friday, following the discovery and identification of the deceased footballer's body. Flowers, cards, messages and scarves were laid outside Cardiff City's ground as a mark of respect for Sala, who was due to join the club.
Sala, 28, was on board a light aircraft which was flying from Nantes in northwestern France to Cardiff on January 21.
Guernsey air traffic control was reportedly contacted by the pilot requesting permission to descend, but the plane subsequently lost contact and disappeared off the radar.
A search found the Piper Malibu plane on the seabed off the Channel Islands on Sunday, two weeks after it went missing.
The body of Sala was discovered late on Wednesday and identified the next day.
