Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro said that opposition leader Juan Guaido serves as “random tool” for change in the country, speaking in an exclusive interview with RT in the Venezuelan capital on Monday.
“I am ready for negotiations, I have always been ready for it. I called for more than 300 times for a dialogue with all political parties, with all the real leaders of the Venezuelan opposition who are more important than this person,” the preside said.
The Venezuelan leader stated that if the opposition continues to take orders from Washington and to refuse to negotiate, “they will not put themselves on the best side in the eyes of the public.”
“More than 80 percent of Venezuelans want to negotiate and solve the issues peacefully,” he added.
Venezuelan opposition leader Guaido proclaimed himself interim president on January 23 after declaring Maduro's January 10 inauguration illegitimate.
Maduro has condemned the decision of a number of countries to recognise Guaido as Venezuela’s acting president.
