At least 168 Venezuelans were seen embarking on a bus to return home to Venezuela from Quito on Friday, in a journey coordinated by the Venezuelan embassy.

People were seen hugging their loved ones, some were crying, others sounded hopeful of having a better life back home.

"I am going back because I don't have a stable job here, I'm pregnant and I want to go back to my family," said Venezuelan migrant Diana Aldaz.

Venezuelan migrants started leaving the Ecuadorian capital since the end of January on flights sponsored by Venezuela's government after the murder of an Ecuadorian woman by a Venezuelan man triggered violence against them.

A total of 250,000 Venezuelans live in Ecuador, according to reports citing government statistics.
