
Venezuela: Anti-Maduro protesters hit the streets of Caracas
Protesters marched against Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro in Caracas, Wednesday, after opposition leader Juan Guaido declared himself interim president of the country.
Protesters rallied against the government administration, after opposition leader and head of the National Assembly Juan Guaido's declared Maduro's January 10 inauguration illegitimate and announced himself interim president of Venezuela.
Anti-Maduro protesters marched through the streets of the capital, chanting slogans and waving Venezuelan flags.
A pro-government rally was also held on Wednesday, with Maduro's supporters hitting the streets in support of the country's leader.
On Wednesday, Maduro condemned the decision of a number of countries to recognise Guaido as Venezuela’s acting president, and broke diplomatic ties with Washington.
