      Syria: Syrian air defences activated over Damascus

      Syrian air defences shot down 'hostile targets' in the early hours of Monday morning, according to state news agency SANA.

      Footage appears to show missiles being intercepted mid-air. A bright flash of light marks the point when a projectile's flight is halted.

      A quoted military source claims that none of the missiles hit their target.

      The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) released a statement saying it was carrying out strikes on Iranian Quds forces in Syria, after intercepting a rocket fired from Syrian territory.

      Earlier on Sunday, Syrian air defence systems reportedly repelled an Israeli raid in the country's south.
