USA: Ex-officer sentenced to 6 years for Laquan McDonald murder
A former police officer was sentenced to six years and nine months imprisonment in Chicago on Friday, months after being found guilty of second-degree murder of black teenager Laquan McDonald in 2014.
The ex-police officer was caught on dashcam video firing at the 17-year old after responding to reports of someone breaking into vehicles.
The ruling marks the first time an on-duty police officer in Chicago was convicted for murder of a black person.
