Team Norway, led by Johannes Thingnes Boe, has won the men's 4x7.5km relay race at the IBU Biathlon World Cup in the German town of Ruhpolding on Friday.

This victory became the fifth consecutive relay title in Ruhpolding for Norway. Germany arrived second, despite being supported fiercely by their fans on the home-turf of the Chiemgau Arena. German biathlete Benedikt Doll left his final shooting as a leader ahead of Johannes Thingnes Boe, the younger of the Boe brothers, but Doll didn't manage to keep the first position and the Norwegian biathlete and leader of the IBU World Cup total standing overcame him 800 metres before the finishing line.

Team France with a total of nine spares on the shooting range and 26.2 seconds back won the bronze. Simon Desthieux outsprinted his Austrian counterpart Julian Eberhard in the last 50 metres for the third place. Oberhof relay winners Russia, led by Alexander Loginov on the last leg, came fifth after Austria 1:04.8 behind the leaders.

The fifth stage of the IBU Biathlon World Cup in Ruhpolding kicked off on Thursday. On Saturday biathlon fans will be watching women's 4x6 km relay. The competitions at the Chiemgau Arena in Ruhpolding will wrap up on Sunday with men's 15 km and women's 12.5 km mass start.

The sixth stage of the IBU Biathlon World Cup will be in the Italian town of Antholz-Anterselva on January 24-27.
