Brazil: Brazil's Bolsonaro and Argentina's Macri meet for first time
Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro met his Argentinian counterpart Mauricio Macri in Brasilia on Wednesday.
The leaders reportedly discussed changes to trade policies in the Common Market of the South (Mercosur) as well as other areas of bilateral relations.
Bolsonaro said that his country “admires” Macri’s efforts “to rebuild Argentina’s economy and make it more integrated with the world.”
He went on to say that there are “no taboos” in the Brazil-Argentina bilateral relationship, adding “what moves us is the search for concrete results that contribute to the development of our countries.”
Macri thanked his counterpart for "the opportunity to ratify this historic friendship and strategic relationship that unites Argentina and Brazil.”
Macri added that the main objective for two countries is “to combat drug trafficking and organised crime.”
