      Oman: Pompeo meets Sultan of Oman as Middle East tour continues

      US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo met with Omani Sultan Qaboos bin Said Al Said in Muscat on Monday, as part of an ongoing tour of the Middle East.

      Pompeo is in the area attempting to reassure regional partners who are concerned about the decision announced by US President Donald Trump to withdraw US forces from Syria.

      The secretary's next stop on his eight day tour of the region was scheduled to be Kuwait, but he will reportedly be returning to the US to attend a family funeral instead.
