
Iran: Army confirms fifteen dead in cargo plane crash
The Iranian army has now confirmed its ownership of the Boeing 707 cargo plane that crashed in Karaj on Monday, leaving 15 of its 16 passengers dead.
According to the spokesman of Iran's Army Shahin Taghikhani, the plane was carrying a cargo of meat to help with Iranians' livelihood and the country's economy.
"[The plane] hit the runway's wall in Fath airport in Alborz province and caught fire," confirmed Taghikhani, who said the exact result of the crash was being investigated.
According to a local resident, there was smoke rising from the engine before the crash landing.
The plane, which had taken off from Bishkek in Kyrgyzstan, was headed for Tehran.
