Pabuk, the first tropical storm to reach Thailand in 30 years, made landfall in Lamai, Koh Samui, on Friday.

Footage shows the decking at the Crystal Bay Yacht Club in Lamai being obliterated by the waves, while the rain and 47mph (76kmph) winds are likely to cause more damage as the storm makes its way west. Pabuk is expected to reach India on January 6, where the state of Odisha has been put on alert.

The authorities suspended ferries, cancelled flights and advised that all ships to stay ashore until the storm passes. There has been one confirmed death as a consequence of the storm, with another missing, after a boat of six capsized.
