
TANKS for helping! New armoured recovery vehicle comes to planes’ rescue in Moscow
Moscow’s Domodedovo airport introduced a brand new tow truck on Wednesday, as the Armoured Repair and Recovery Vehicle (BREM-1) entered service.
The vehicle’s manufacturer, Russia’s State Corporation Rostec, says tow truck, which was developed on the basis of the T-72 main battle tank, is capable of evacuating aircraft of any size in case of emergency situations.
According to the manufacturer, the 41-tonne tank-based pushback’s boasts a pulling force of 125 tonnes, which enables it to tow a wide-bodied double-deck aircraft. Its load capacity stands at 12 tonnes.
