Mexico: Migrant kids marked with numbers as they wait to cross US border
Migrants and their children were marked with identifying numbers in the Mexican border city of Ciudad Juarez on Tuesday as they wait to enter the United States.
Footage emerged showing numbers in black ink marked on children's arms, while their families are stuck for weeks at migrant shelter 'Casa del Migrante' ('Home of the migrant') in the hope of obtaining political asylum in the US.
It is not yet known how and when the practice of tracking migrants with numbers started, but according to reports the measure has become standard for all those seeking asylum at a number of ports of entry into the United States.
