A large fire broke out at Chester Zoo in the north-west of England on Saturday. The zoo was forced to close for the day while both visitors and animals have been evacuated from the premises.

The fire is reportedly confined to the zoo’s Monsoon Rainforest building, which houses a range of animals from South-east Asia and replicates the hot, humid conditions of the region.

Chester Zoo is one of the largest in the country and contains over 20,000 animals from 500 species and is one of the UK’s most visited wildlife attractions.
