France: Manhunt underway for Strasbourg gunman
French police and military were patrolling the streets of Strasbourg early Wednesday morning, as part of a manhunt for the gunman who killed at least three people in the French city on Tuesday evening.
Footage shows soldiers and police standing sentinel at a road in the city. Authorities have asked residents to remain at home until the situation has been clarified.
The gunman, who was reportedly already known to the police, opened fire at around 20:00 local time (19:00 GMT) near the city's famous Christmas market, and is being actively sought by the authorities.
Police have confirmed that the suspect is a 29-year-old male and a native of the city.
A terror investigation has been opened by France's counter terrorism prosecutor.
Police union sources initially reported that four people had been killed, however French Interior Minister Christophe Castaner later confirmed that three people had died and 12 people had been injured.
