Argentina: Contact with former Trump lawyer only two emails and a phone call - Peskov
Kremlin Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov said that US President Donald Trump's former lawyer Michael Cohen contacted Russian officials about a potential project in Moscow, but the communication consisted only of "two emails and one telephone call," while talking to an NBC News reporter in Buenos Aires on Saturday.
"We told them that Russian presidential administration is not dealing with construction works, so we can't arrange contacts with potential Russian counterparts, but there is a perfect opportunity for that - the Economic Forum - and then they disappeared," Peskov said.
Peskov also explained that "dozens and dozens of applications are coming every week" from foreign businessmen searching for contacts and mentioning possible investments.
"For you, it's a future president Trump. For us, it's one of the other applicants," he noted.
In response to the reporter's remark that some people struggle to believe a contact with Cohen would come to nothing, Peskov said: "This is not our struggle, it's their struggle, we wish them success."
On Thursday, Cohen plead guilty to lying to Congress about a proposed Trump Tower project in Moscow, claiming that Trump spoke with him about this deal more extensively than Cohen admitted to Congress last year.
