Italy: Rome mourns death of Oscar-winning director Bertolucci
Dozens of people paid their respects at the open casket of Italian film director Bernardo Bertolucci in Rome's Capitol Hill on Tuesday, the day after the Oscar-winning film-maker died in the Italian capital.
Footage shows Bertolucci's body lying in an open coffin in a room inside Rome's Capitol Hill, with people paying their respects nearby.
Cinematographer Vittorio Storaro, a friend and collaborator of Bertolucci, recounted the first time he met the director in 1963, saying "it had shocked me to see how a young man could be so aware of being able to use the movie camera as if it were a writing pencil."
77-year old Bertolucci's accolades include 1987's 'The Last Emperor' - recipient of nine Academy Awards, including best director - and 1972's 'Last Tango in Paris.'
Bertolucci had been suffering from cancer, his publicist confirmed on Monday.
