      A group of Russian walkers got more than they bargained on 27 September when the Ebeko volcano they were walking up erupted!

      The volcano is located near the town of Severo-Kurilsk on Paramushir Island, which is one of the Kuril Islands. The town itself was covered in ash following the eruption and took on a faint rotten egg smell, caused by the hydrogen sulfide emitted.

      As for the hikers’ hairy situation, no one was injured and they’re sure to have walked away with an unforgettable experience. However, they might think twice before taking on another volcano.
