Thousands of hobbyists took part in an America Civil War re-enactment march in Gettysburg, PA on Saturday to commemorate the lives lost during the eponymous battle there in 1863.

Reenactors wore both Union and Confederate uniforms as they paraded through the streets for the annual Remembrance Day, which is around the same date, November 19, Abraham Lincoln delivered the Gettysburg Address.

"There are people that don't want us to keep doing those because the history is so bad, well they only know part of history," said one of the participants.

Another defended the use of the Confederate flag, which is seen by many as a symbol of racism.
