World's largest NACHOS served up in New Mexico
The world's largest plate of nachos was served up in Las Cruces, New Mexico, on Saturday.
At the record breaking event, dubbed the 'Noche de Nachos' or the Night of Nachos, the 5,030 lb (2,282 kg) dish was laid out on a 110 foot (33 m) long table. The festivities were organised by city authorities along with support from the New Mexico Department of Agriculture, with all of the ingredients sourced locally.
Nachos originate from northern Mexico but are now popular as both a snack and a meal around the world. Ingredients vary greatly but they commonly consist of corn tortilla chips covered with minced meat and cheese along with beans, jalapeno peppers and salsa.
