Bosnia and Herzegovina: Businessmen call for Maljevac border crossing to reopen
Businessmen held a protest in the city of Bihac on Sunday, decrying the closure of the nearby Maljevac border crossing between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Croatia, and calling on the government to relocate migrants stranded in the area.
The border has been closed for the past six days because a group of some 200 refugees are seeking to illegally cross from Croatia into the European Union.
President of the Association of Entrepreneurs in Velika Kladusa Ibrahim Djedovic claimed that businessmen are losing money due to the closed border as Maljevac "is one of the most frequent crossings in Bosnia and Herzegovina."
“I'm sorry for them [refugees]. We are not against them. We want to help them. But their rights cannot be above our rights," he said.
