
ISS: Expedition 56 casts off from ISS and heads back to Earth
Three crew members from the International Space Station began their journey back to Earth aboard a Soyuz spacecraft at 07.57 GMT on Thursday.
US astronauts Andrew Feustel and Richard Arnold, as well as Russian cosmonaut Sergei Prokopyev departed the ISS after spending a total of 197 days in space as part of Expeditions 55/56.
They crew will land in Kazakhstan, where the astronauts and cosmonaut will be greeted by recovery crews.
The Soyuz MS-08 mission carrying Feustel, Arnold, and Prokopyev to the ISS departed on March 21, 2018. German astronaut Alexander Gerst, who is currently onboard the ISS, has taken over as commander of expedition 57.
