
Abkhazia: Russian troops hold large-scale drills
Soldiers from Russia’s naval, land and air forces conducted military drills near the village of Bombora, in Abkhazia, on Monday.
"Today we conducted drills involving the landing of navy troops on an unprepared zone. The drills were held as a part of a joint training session. The Seventh Military Base, part of the 4th Air and Air Defence Forces and Black Sea Fleet took part. The drills will continue for another three days," Major General Vladislav Ershov said.
The joint tactical drills will take place along the Black Sea coast from Russia’s Taman to Abkhazia’s Nagvalou testing ground until Wednesday.
In total, 2,500 soldiers, nearly 600 units of military equipment, a landing ship, T-72BZ tanks and Ka-52 'Alligator' helicopters are involved in the drills.
