
South Africa: Zambian president invites Putin to nuclear tech centre opening
Russian President Vladimir Putin received an invitation to open a nuclear science and tech centre in Zambia, during a bilateral meeting with his counterpart Edgar Lungu on the sidelines of the 10th annual BRICS summit, in Johannesburg on Thursday.
“We have signed [the agreement] with Rosatom [Russia’s Rosatom State Nuclear Energy Corporation] and a few other Russian agencies, so we look forward to your coming, probably came to ground-breaking [ceremony], as you set up the nuclear centre," Lungu said.
Putin noted that relations between the two countries are also developing in the area of coordination of foreign-policy efforts on the international scene.
