Representatives of the Russian Embassy in the United States visited alleged Russian foreign agent Maria Butina at a detention facility in Washington DC, on Thursday.

Nikolai Pukalov, the Head of the Consular Section of the Russian embassy in the US said that "she is feeling ok, it’s a prison, of course, so adaptation to the prison regime is going hard," adding that nevertheless "she is not losing her spirits."

Butina was detained on July 15 over charges of conspiring against the US government and for failing to register as a foreign agent.
