Thousands of protesters flooded Koenigsplatz in Munich, after marching through the city to protest against the policies of the Christian Social Union (CSU) party, Sunday.

Protesters gathered despite the bad weather, holding banners reading 'Doner becomes better, Soder becomes stupid', referring to CSU's Markus Soder, the Bavarian Minister President. They carried slogans demanding his deportation, and denouncing a perceived rightwards shift in German and Bavarian politics, especially with regard to immigration.

The protest took place under the motto "#hustled out – together against the policy of fear!" and was organised by around 130 civil society groups.

According to police, over 15,000 people participated in the demonstration.
