France: Vucic seeks to 'ensure lasting peace' with Kosovo Albanians during Brussels talks

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic held a press conference with French President Emmanuel Macron in Paris on Tuesday, in which they both stressed their aims to achieve lasting peace in the Balkan region.

"What is the most important for us in Serbia is that we've received a support from President Macron to find a compromise solution with the Albanians in Kosovo, that we don't keep peace only for a year or two, but that we ensure lasting peace," Vucic said.

Macron said that on these issues, there was a common will to bring "stability of the whole region, sovereignty of each country, and the capacity offered to each country of the region to resist foreign influence or disturbance."

Vucic, President Hashim Thaci of Kosovo and European Union High Representative Federica Mogherini will meet in Brussels on July 18 for EU-facilitated talks between the two leaders.
