Russia: French coach shocked by Les Bleus' march to final
France manager Didier Deschamps could scarcely believe his side have reached the World Cup final, after emerging 1-0 victors over Belgium in St. Petersburg on Tuesday night.
"We have spent 49 days together since our first preparation day. Who could have believed that? Who could have believed that we are going to reach the World Cup final?" he told journalists at a post-match press conference.
France will play either Croatia or England on Sunday in Moscow's Luzhniki Stadium.
After the semi-final defeat, Belgium manager Roberto Martinez lamented that the match went down to 'very small margins'.
"I didn't see France running away with the game. I didn't see France being stronger mentally than us. I think our performance went down to very small margins, that first goal was going to be vital," he reflected.
Belgium will face the loser of tomorrow's semi-final in the third-place play-off on Saturday.
