Russia: Sorokin and FIFA communications chief discuss World Cup organisation
CEO of the Russia 2018 Alexei Sorokin and FIFA's director of competitions Colin Smith discussed the World Cup’s operational issues after 15 days of the tournament, in a press conference in Moscow on Friday.
“There are efforts at some organisational level, the city level or organizing committee level and there is people’s attitude that we can’t organize, encourage or buy. There are a lot of beautiful life stories emphasising that our Russian citizens were really looking forward to the World Cup and wanted to show their hospitality,” Sorokin said.
Smith on his part said it’s “bittersweet” to close venues and to see some of the fans going home as their team’s tournament is already over.
