Russia: Colombia finish top and Senegal out on fair play rule
Colombia's 1-0 victory meant they topped Group H, while opponents Senegal were knocked out of the World Cup on the fair play rule, after receiving more yellow cards than Japan.
Defender Yerry Mina's second-half header from a corner proved to be decisive, despite a late rally from Aliou Cisse's Senegal side.
When the final whistle blew, Japan and Senegal were level in terms of points and goal difference, meaning that fair play rules - yellow and red cards - were used to separate the teams.
This result ended African representation at the World Cup.
