The head of Egypt's Fooball Association (EFA) Hany Abo Rida said that the Egypt football team coach Hector Cuper was not fired, but rather left his duties because his contract had ended, during a press conference in Giza on Wednesday.

"The end of his contract was after the World Cup and he refused to discuss the contract before the tournament. So I want to make it clear the we didn't fire him, but the contract is over," Abo Rida said referring to Cuper.

At the end of the press conference EFA board member Majdi Abdelghani contested accusations of alleged financial corruption.
