Peruvian team members expressed gratitude towards their fans after a 2:0 win against Australia in Sochi on Tuesday.

"Now we know that we are ready to fight for great challenges," said Peruvian forward Andre Carrillo.

Australians on the other hand seemed resolute in Peru’s evidently better performance as Australian midfielder Aaron Mooy said, "it is a good day for their fans."

Already eliminated, Peru managed a 2-0 victory against Australia, sending the Socceroos crashing out of the World Cup in the process.
