Russia: Sweden’s scorer and coach praise VAR system after win over South Korea
Sweden's coach Janne Andersson and team captain Andreas Granqvist spoke at a press conference in Nizhny Novgorod on Monday, after defeating South Korea 1:0 over a penalty awarded by the VAR (Video Assistance Referee).
For the team coach, the penalty "should have been called straight away" since it was "a very-very clear penalty."
He concluded by saying that when the referee missed the penalty "it was excellent that he was able to use the possibility offered by the VAR."
Swedish ace Andreas Granqvist, captain of the team and scorer of the match, also praised the usefulness of the system and said that his team is now looking ahead to the match against Germany on June 23.
He added that since Germany lost to Mexico it will be "a different type of game."
