Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili was attacked during a protest over the handling of an investigation into the stabbing of two 16-year-olds in Tbilisi on Thursday night.

Kvirikashvili attempted to address the crowd, but the outraged protesters refused to let him speak throwing bottles and other objects until the Prime Minister eventually left.

The protests were sparked by the court's decision not to consider the death of David Saralidze a murder, charging one of the suspects with an attempt murder. Nevertheless, the other detainee was found guilty of killing Levan Dadunashvili.

The chief prosecutor of Georgia Irakly Shotadze has already resigned, while Kvirikashvili has promised the interior ministry will review the case.

David Saralidze and Levan Dadunashvili were killed in a brawl between students from two different schools in December 2017.
