SOT, Journalist (Urdu): "If other children go to study abroad?"

SOT, Abdul Aziz, Sabika's father (Urdu): "Okay, it is just an accident with my daughter. It does not mean that we stop educating our children by fearing of these incidents or an act of an individual, we must not stop educating [our children], never. I have two more daughters and one son, if my daughter or son gets a chance to study abroad by getting a scholarship, or even they just visit abroad, I will have no objection and I will send them there. If we stop our children by fearing these incidents, that means we promote those people who want to stop educating our kids."

Thousands of mourners attended the funeral of 17-year old Pakistani student Sabika Aziz Sheikh, who was killed in the Santa Fe High School shooting in the US on May 18, in Karachi on Wednesday.

Abdul Aziz Sheikh called his daughter a "martyr" saying that "I consider my daughter a martyr and she is martyr, one hundred percent, and martyrs are alive not dead according to our belief, so I did not bury my daughter, I just helped her sleep along with my mother.

Sabika's father added that he will continue to support his two other daughters and one son, if they want to study abroad. "If we stop our children by fearing these incidents, that means we promote those people who want to stop educating our kids," he said.

Sabika went to the US under a student exchange program which began on August 21, 2017. She was expected to go home on June 9, 2018.

She was among the eight students and two teachers that were killed in the high school shooting in Santa Fe, south of Houston on May 18.
