Russia: Doping officer 'satisfied' with Russian football team before Brazil friendly
"We were tested and the doping officer was satisfied," Russian National Football Team Coach Stanislav Cherchesov said at a press conference in Moscow on Thursday ahead of a friendly match with Brazil on Friday.
The national team was late for their open training session in Moscow on Wednesday due to doping tests taking place earlier that day. However, Cherchesov urged journalists "not to kick this topic around and not to represent it in the wrong context" as this is standard practice before a match.
"If we trained alone in Novogorsk, there would not be a single journalist, then probably nobody would have known about this," he said.
Fedor Kudryashov, a defender for Russian football team, also attended the conference, expressing his hope that the Luzhniki stadium in Moscow would be full for the friendly match.
The players had another training session at Luzhniki on Thursday before their encounter with the five-time world champions Brazil. Luzhniki is one of the 12 FIFA World Cup stadiums.
