Spain: Amazon staff strike over pay, bonuses
Amazon employees staged their first strike at Spain’s largest logistics centre in San Fernando de Henares on Wednesday.
The 48-hour strike – the first in Spain - was called after the company and unions failed to reach a deal to renew a labour agreement which expired in December 2016.
Nearly 2,000 employees claim Amazon is seeking to shift from a collective labour agreement which would result in reducing work-related benefits, such as lowering overtime payments and bonuses.
The company said orders will not be affected as other centres in Spain are absorbing the workload.
