
Germany: Thousands of workers go on strike for higher wages
As many as 2,400 workers from various sectors went on strike in Dusseldorf on Tuesday to demand higher wages.
"Our demand is six percent and at least 200 euros [more] each month," said Stephanie Peifer, manager of ver.di trade union.
Strikers, including employees of city administration, job centre, and opera and theatres took to Burgplatz as they cheered and chanted waving flags and banners saying, "We are worth it."
