France: ‘Je Suis Efrin’ - Parisians rise against Turkey's 'Olive Branch'

Protesters took to the streets of Paris on Saturday to denounce the Turkish military operation in the Kurdish-dominated enclave of Afrin in northern Syria.

Protesters form several Pro-Kurdish associations marched with Kurdish flags and banners throughout the streets of the French capital.

For Sylvie Jean, spokesperson of Kurdish solidarity association said that turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is "giving power back" to self-proclaimed Islamic State (IS; formerly ISIL/ISIS).

"The leaders of this world and France must state clearly their position against what has now become an Islamo-fascist dictator," she said

"In a way we knew that for many years Daesh was supported by the Turkish government. Here we have the proof," said a member of the national office of the peace movement Yves-Jean Gallas.

According Jean-Paul Vanhoove, the western countries have "sacrifice 300,000 Syrians for nothing, after we will sacrifice Kurds, all for geo-strategic interests that have absolutely nothing to do with human rights."

The Turkish military started launching airstrikes and rockets on Kurdish positions in Afrin in January, shortly after Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced the launch of the military operation dubbed Olive Branch. The Turkish President also declared that the next destination for Turkish forces would be Syria's Manbij.

Turkey views YPG which is active in northern Syria, as an extension of the banned militant group Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK).
