Hundreds attended the funeral of the victims of the February 18 church shooting in Kizlyar, Dagestan, in southern Russia on Tuesday.

The bodies of the victims were carried out from Kizlyar's St. George Church, where five women were killed. The dramatic procession moved down the stairs towards the grave site on the church territory where the victims were buried.

One of the mourners, local resident Lyudmila Krivenko, was a friend of Tatiana Sergeevna Terlijan who was a teacher a local school and one of the victims. Speaking of Terlijan, Krivenko said she was a charitable and hard-working woman. "She gained respect from all the teachers in the city," she added.

The other local Lidia mentioned Luydmila Scherbakova, who was her cardiologist. "If I missed a check-up, after three months she would call me, ask me why I did not come. Such a good person. It is a pity, of course."

On February 18 the shooter, reportedly known as Khalilov Khalil Omarovich, 23, opened fire at a church entrance in the town of Kizlyar with a shot-gun, claiming the lives of five women and injuring five more people, including police officers. He was later killed by police.
